About

Hi there, welcome to my tiny corner of the Internet. My name is Aaron, and in addition to being able to lift extremely light-weight carbon fiber bicycles above my head, I am a professional coach, cultural consultant, educator, author, podcast host, musician, and family man. I am blessed to have found a lovely wife, who has birthed us three lovely children. Everything I do in my life is to make their lives better.

For income, I teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses at California State University, East Bay, San Jose State University, and St. Mary’s College of California, and lead cultural consulting workshops for Japan Intercultural Consulting, Inc. I also run my own business, called “Amplify Coaching & Consulting, LLC” (aka, AC&C).

I started AC&C because I wanted to help amplify the voices of the best and the brightest emerging leaders, by coaching them to find clarity in their work and balance in their lives.

I know from experience that we often cannot see the light at the foot of the lighthouse, so to speak, and that we can all benefit from having a great coach in our corner.

I am a CTI-trained co-active coach and will be officially certified by CTI and the ICF in December 2023. I am currently offering discounted “certification” rates that will not last, so if you are interested in learning more about coaching, now is a great time to act

I have successfully led various consulting and research projects for various Japanese and American companies and governmental organizations, including Japan’s Ministry of EducationTesla Motors, Inc., Japan’s Olympic Committeeand Lead2Play.

That being said, coaching and consulting are just part of what I do. I also write and speak about a range of topics related to leadership, sports, education, and culture.

I also have an abiding interest in the politics of sports, cross-cultural relations, and leadership development. In particular, I find great satisfaction speaking to leading organizations about the leadership lessons we can learn from sports and particularly sports coaches.

Finally, I love to write. I have published many articles and book chapters regarding the aforementioned themes, some of which you can read here on this website.

My first book, which is called Discourses of Discipline, was published by the Institute of East Asian Studies, UC Berkeley in 2013, can be purchased here, and was translated into Japanese and published by Kyowakoku. You can order the Japanese translation here

My second book, called Buying In, was published by Rowman and Littlefield, in 2022. There are currently discussions about translating it into Japanese, too.

If you are interested in learning more about the work that I have done, and/or wonder whether I can help you or your organization, too, please send me an email @ amiller333@yahoo.com and begin a conversation. If you’re not sure, feel free to put time on my calendar, too.

And while you’re here, why not listen to some of my music, and subscribe to my podcastIt’s called “The Power of Sports” and it is a fun if tiny corner of the Internet where I interview guests about their fascinating experiences in sports.

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day!
